What AI may be used for
We may use AI tools to help with production tasks: converting supplied documents into our publishing format, suggesting headline and summary options, drafting metadata, and flagging broken links or structural problems for an editor to review.
What AI is never used for
AI does not determine which UK nations an article applies to, does not state or verify a legal position, and does not approve an article for publication. Those judgments are made by a named human editor and, where a legal position is stated, by a qualified reviewer.
Illustrations
Where an image has been generated with AI, it is recorded as such in our media library and is only used illustratively — never to depict a real person, case, document or event.
Human accountability
Every published article has a named byline and an accountable editor. AI assistance does not dilute that responsibility: if an article is wrong, it is our error, and we correct it under our corrections policy.
